Our Services

Our clinicians specialize in treating a wide range of symptoms and diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, autism, and most other psychological disorders. Services provided include but are not limited to:

Counseling

Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a way to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so a person can function better and can increase well-being and healing.Psychotherapy is a collaborative treatment based on the relationship between patient and provider. Grounded in dialogue, it provides a supportive environment in which to talk openly and honestly with someone who will compassionately sit and work with you toward improved relationships and a truthful worldview.

Psychiatric Services

Pharmacologic management of various mental health conditions as well as preventative and lifestyle recommendations.

Our Mission

Alterity Psychological Services is the benchmark for compassionate and holistic family-centered care, incorporating mind, body, and community.

We put patients first by using evidence-based therapies, conducting regular testing, and upholding the highest ethical standards both in practice and diagnostics. We are committed to investing in our community; being available to individuals from all walks of life; de-stigmatizing mental health care; and establishing collaborative relationships with the local medical community, businesses and organizations that support wellness. We consider it a privilege to serve both military and civilian patients alike and will work tirelessly to ensure all patients acquire the tools to cope with and thrive in everyday life.

We firmly believe in the philosophical approach of focusing on doing and being what is best for the other. The French-Jewish philosopher, Emanuel Levinas, said it this way, “For others, in spite of myself, from myself.” We strive to work according to this philosophy and to help our patients embrace it as well.

"For others, in spite of myself, from myself."

Our Story

Dr. Aaron Burdge built Alterity Psychological Services from the ground up and has been doing so, some might say, for his entire career of more than 30 years.

He founded APS with the vision that he could start a family-run business that benefited all of the families that make up our community and would set the standard for mental health care in the Pacific Northwest. This being the case, Dr. Burdge and his family have worked – and continue to work – tirelessly to build a clinic that would match this vision.

We hope to continue doing so for years to come. His wife, Trina, has two Masters degrees from Brigham Young University in Counseling Psychology and Health Education. She has been a strong supporter of Dr. Burdge as evidenced by her countless hours of behind-the-scenes work. Dr. and Mrs. Burdge also have four children, two of which are currently pursuing degrees in Psychology. They plan to join the practice once they have completed their degrees.

Alterity Psychological Services has been a labor of love from our family on behalf of a community we truly care about and we look forward to serving you and yours.
